Nokia phones to be priced at $150

Nokia phones to be priced at $150
Few years ago it was Nokia which was ruling the mobile market share, but some bad management decisions, like going for windows OS over Android, while the whole world was moving towards Android has left the company behind and lead to selling the smartphone business to Microsoft.

But the past is past, the company is all set to hit the market with a bang. The company is preparing to launch three Android smartphones in 2017, presumably in the first quarter of the year. The chances are that we will hear about these phones sometime closer to the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in late February. Of these, the Nokia Android phone that is likely to be most affordable will be the rumored Nokia D1C. According to the latest leaks, the phone will come in two variants. The base variant with 2GB RAM will cost around $150, which will be slightly less than Rs 10,000 in India. The other version, with 3GB RAM, will likely cost $200, which may mean that the phone could be sold in India at a price of under Rs 15,000.

However, the report itself says that this price leak is not from their usual sources so it needs to be taken with a pinch of salt. The specifications in the report are more in line with what has already been leaked earlier. According to NPU, Nokia D1C will sport a Snapdragon 430 processor, Adreno 505 GPU, Android 7.0 Nougat and will come in two display sizes; one will be a 5-inch Full HD version and another will be 5.5-inch Full HD.

Nokia D1C specifications

The rest of the specifications will remain the same for both the variants. These will include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor clocked at 1.4GHz and paired with Adreno 505 GPU. They will also feature 16GB internal storage, 8-megapixel selfie camera, and they will run on Android Nougat 7.0 out-of-the-box.

Nokia-branded smartphones will be launched by HMD, which owns the exclusive rights. Though there’s been no official announcement from the company yet, it is widely believed that the first Nokia Android smartphones will be unveiled at MWC 2017 in Barcelona. The leaked prices are in line with what HMD CEO Arto Nummela was recently quoted as saying. Nummela has made it clear that India is a very important market for the upcoming Nokia smartphones, and the company is promising “premium execution in each and every price point.”

Talking of different price points, reports have suggested that we will also get to see high-end Nokia smartphones. These smartphones are expected to feature QHD resolution display, Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor, 22.6-megapixel primary camera with 4K video recording capabilities, and connectivity options like 4G LTE, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi 802.11ac. On the software front, the smartphones are expected to run on Android Nougat out-of-the-box, and prices are expected to start from around Rs 30,000.

If the report is to be trusted about the prices, believe us Nokia is going to break all the records in the smartphone market.

If these rumors come true, Nokia will become the bottleneck for all the Chinese mobile vendors. But as we don’t have information from the horse mouth we can only predict for a couple of months.
