iOS 11 is bringing one of the most awaited features to iPhone

One of the best things iPhone or iOS gives is the facetime as a feature. As we all iPhone users are aware Apple’s FaceTime is just limited to call between two people, as of now. Many people were complaining about the features being limited for only two people.

We have some good news for all those who are waiting for the multi-users support in Apple’s FaceTime, With iOS 11 coming later this year, as per the recent report it is expected that new version of iOS will have FaceTime supporting group video calls.

While we’re still several months away from iOS 11’s likely debut at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference, a group call feature would have FaceTime catching up with rival platforms such as Skype and Google Hangouts.

The report comes from the Israel-based website “The Verifier.” According to which FaceTime is getting a new feature in iOS 11, namely group calling. This will allow iOS users to stream live to groups in addition to the usual one-to-one connection. Since there are messaging apps like Skype and Facebook Messenger that already offer it, Apple needs to update FaceTime's capabilities to keep pace. The FaceTime camera last received an upgrade with 2015's Apple iPhone 6s and Apple iPhone 6s Plus. The camera was hiked to 5MP from the previous 1.2MP.

Apple Sued Because Of FaceTime

FaceTime already courts a lot of trouble as Apple has been slapped with a lawsuit that claims that a serious road accident occurred in Texas in 2014 due to FaceTime.

The lawsuit cited that Apple intentionally did not implement a patented technological feature in iPhones, which would have locked down FaceTime and prevented the user from deploying it while driving.

"Defendant Apple Inc. has had the technology to prevent these events, and the Modisettes' injuries, specifically since at least Dec. 12, 2008, when it filed an application with the U.S. Patent Office for a 'driver handheld computing device lock-out," stated the complaint against Apple.

During Christmas eve 2014, James and Bethanny Modisette were traveling on Interstate I-35 along with their two children, Isabella and Moriah. Another car slammed into the Modisette's car gravely injuring both children. Although both the kids were rushed to the nearby hospital, the little girl succumbed to her injuries and was declared dead.

The accident took place because apparently, the driver in the other car was distracted by FaceTime, which was still running when the rescuers came to the accident scene.

With Apple looking to integrate group video calling with the arrival of iOS 11, iDevice owners have much to look forward to.

It is being predicted that Apple will reveal its iOS 11 and all other major updates at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference 2017 (WWDC), which is scheduled to be held in early June.
