iPhone 8 might be a flexible phone: Proof inside
Apple 10th anniversary iPhone, iPhone 8 going to come in the market this year (2017) and It's the rumor that refuses to go away, and now there’s, even more, evidence that Apple will launch a flexible iPhone in the not too distant future.

With flexible and foldable phones widely considered to be the future of the smartphone space, rumors have been rife that Apple could launch a flexible iPhone sooner rather than later. These Flexible phones are one of the great changes that are going to come in the Smartphone market

Backing up these reports, an official patent application filed by the manufacturer has emerged, showing off the company’s workings on the flexi phone future.

According to the newly emerged patent filing, Apple is working on “a flexing display that is moveable between a folded position and an unfolded position.”

Giving the flexible phone reactive skills, the application has detailed how the future phone will play host to “a sensor that detects whether the flexible display is in the folded position or the unfolded position.”

Using this, it adds it will benefit from “processing circuitry that automatically turns on the flexible display when the flexible display moves from the folded position to the unfolded position.”

Working in reverse, this tech will also turn the display off when it’s refolded.

Showing just how far the technology needs to come, Apple’s latest patent filing stipulates that as well as a flexible display panel, the future phone will have to feature a flexible circuit board and a flexible battery with flexible battery cells.

The patent has also revealed that instead of metal, glass or even plastic, this phone’s body will be crated from fabric to make it more pliable.

It states that the phone will feature “a fabric housing member that supports the flexible display, adding “the fabric-based housing structure comprises a layer of fabric on a rigid support structure.”

Potentially dodgy design aside, it’s this battery that could pose the biggest problem.

As the combusting Samsung Galaxy Note 7 showed last year, batteries do not respond well to being placed under undue stress.

As such, although Apple is known to be working on flexible phones, it’s believed that the iPhone 8 will come too early for the innovative technology.

With the next-gen iPhone tipped for a September unveiling, it’s believed the phone will play host to a less radical redesign.

Although a flexible form might not be on the cards, past reports have suggested the phone could feature a screen that curves around the phone’s edges, much like the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge or upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8.

The iPhone 8 will reportedly go on sale this September with the phone that marks a decade of iPhones to benefit from a faster processor, improved camera and revamped iOS 11 software.
