The rear cameras on the Galaxy S8-series also include support for 4K video recording. Up front, there is an 8-megapixel front-facing camera with auto-focus support for clicking blur-free selfies and video calling.

Fingerprint sensors have now become quite common, even on smartphones priced under Rs 9,000. Samsung wants to take security a step forward, and with this in mind, both new smartphones feature Iris scanner for biometric authentication. The feature first made its way to the Galaxy Note 7, which had an unfortunate demise due to the faulty battery.

The iris scanner can not only be used to unlock your smartphone but also to verify your Samsung account, sign-in to web pages and more. Along with the iris scanner, the fingerprint scanner is also present on the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ smartphones, which can be used to unlock your smartphone and also make NFC-payments using Samsung Pay.

The certification means that you do not need to worry about sudden rains or an accidental splash of water. You can also dunk the new Galaxy S8-smartphones under 1.5 meter of water for up to 30 minutes without causing any damage to the internals. However, we won’t recommend doing that.
