Xiaomi MiA1 launched with Dual Camera setup
After teasing for long about the dual camera setup, Xiaomi has finally launched the MiA1, the first Android One device from the Chinese smartphone maker which will be available in market at Rs 14,999 starting next week.

This is the first device of Xiaomi which is going to feature stock Android, through Android One platform. If you go back in past the last time India got Android One phones with the promise of pure Android and regular updates was in 2014. Google had then partnered with Micromax, Karbonn and Spice Mobiles and set out the basic hardware specifications coupled with the software for those phones.

But Xiaomi Mi A1 will not be only sold in India, it would be available also in more than 40 markets around the world including Indonesia, Vietnam, Russia, Poland, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Ukraine, and Mexico. Local pricing in these markets will be available later.

While launching the Smartphone, Xiaomi Senior Vice President Wang Xiang said, “Mi A1 is a strategic device in our global expansion, marking a milestone on our quest to bring innovation to everyone. From the beginning, Xiaomi has been all about choice, and we are delighted to offer users a new way to experience the power of Xiaomi.

He praised Google and said, “Google has been a great partner, and given our strong collaboration, we thought their idea to launch a Xiaomi smartphone on Android One would be a great opportunity to give our users a different user experience."

Mi A1 comes with a 5.5-inch full HD display and Corning Gorilla Glass to prevent accidental scratches. It is really slim, just over 7.3mm in thickness and weighs a mere 168g. Multi-tasking with one hand is a total breeze.

Specifications of Xiaomi Mi A1

The Xiaomi A1 comes with a 5.5-inch full HD display and runs on Android 7.1.2 Nougat out-of-the-box. Google says the smartphone will get Android 8.0 Oreo update by end of this year and will be one of the first devices to get Android P. Since it’s an Android One smartphone, it doesn’t have Xiaomi’s popular MIUI custom skin. The smartphone, however, comes pre-loaded with a few Xiaomi applications such as Feedback, Mi Remote, and Mi Home.

It is powered by Qualcomm’s mid-range Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor along with 4GB of RAM and boasts 64GB of onboard storage. The highlight of the smartphone is its dual-rear camera, which also makes the Xiaomi Mi A1 the first Android One device to have twin cameras on the back. The setup consists of two 12-megapixel sensors. The Mi A1 also comes with 2X optical zoom and 10X digital zoom. For selfies, it has a 5-megapixel sensor. Google is offering unlimited photo storage to Mi A1 users through Google Photos.
