If you are a Gionee fan and you got upset with the news of Gionee Planning to scale down its operation in India then we have some different news for you. Reacting to an IANS report that financial woes in China may hit Gionee's India operations, David Chang, Global Sales Director, Gionee India, said that the brand is here to stay.

"We are in the process of restructuring our India team and executing a completely different business model for the brand in the market very soon," Chang had told IANS.

After the statement company has started showing words by action. Recently Gionee India played a key role in organizing the cultural fest, ‘Eco Waves’ at Dyal Singh. The objective to organize and collaborate with the institution was to understand the core audience better and extend the perception about Gionee being a youth-friendly brand.

The event at Dyal Singh College ranged over a span of two days witnessing the fun and lively events like spin the wheel game, ping-pong competition, aiming the bull’s eye among other engaging contests. Each participant was rewarded with special Gionee goodies and vouchers.


The association has received an overwhelming response and has had the desired impact on the audience. Mr. Alok Srivastava, Director Sales, Gionee India, said, “Gionee India is extremely proud to harness the young talent and connect with them through such interactive engagement activations. We have received a fantastic response and look forward to replicating these initiatives in other institutions across geographies.

Keeping in sync with selfie+battery proposition Gionee India will continue to cater to the young audience providing them with enhanced smartphone features like enhanced camera function, full view display, versatile selfie modes accompanied with superior battery quality among others. The brand is enthusiastic and forthcoming about the upcoming participation and collaboration with educational institutions to consistently build the strong connection with its customer base.


The company had 2.2 percent share in the Indian smartphone market for 2017, according to Counterpoint Research. The last device Gionee brought to India was selfie-centric "S10 Lite" for Rs 15,999 on December 22.
