Camon i2X unboxing: device with elegant design

Camon i2X

The Tecno brand is owned by Transsion Holdings which also sells phones under Itel, Infinix and Spice names. These are all targeted at developing markets, and most of the models are budget-friendly. Now Tecno has launched the three new smartphones to its Camon range, that will be powered by artificial intelligence and sport notched displays. These phones are Camon iAIR2+, Camon i2, and Camon i2X, and have been priced under Rs 15,000. Each of these phones is already available for sale and can be purchased through offline retail stores.

With the launch of the new design, “Notch Display” company is all set to give the tough competition to other Chinese smartphone makers in mid-range smartphone market segment.
In this article we are doing the unboxing of the Camon i2X, but before we move to the unboxing part of the device lets talk about the specification of the Camon i2X.

TECNO ships the Camon i2X smartphone with a 6.2-inch display. The LCD screen bears a resolution of HD+ (1,500 x 720 pixels) and an aspect ratio of 19:9. The dual-SIM handset is powered by MediaTek’s MT6762 octa-core chipset clocked at 2.0GHz. The SoC is paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage, which is expandable with a dedicated microSD card slot. For security, the handset features a fingerprint sensor on the rear panel.

Camon i2X

On the camera front, the Camon i2X features a 13-megapixel f/1.8 main sensor, combined with 5-megapixel f/2.4 secondary sensor and quad LED flash. For selfies and video calling, there is a 16-megapixel front camera with dedicated flash and f/2.0 aperture lens.

The camera app is integrated with features like Bokeh Mode, AI HDR, AI Beauty, Super Pixel Mode, and Panorama. Powering the handset is a non-removable 3,750mAh Li-On battery, and software-wise, it boots Android 8.1 Oreo-based HiOS 4.1 out of the box. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, and GPS/ Glonass.   

The device comes in three colour variants of Aqua Blue, Midnight Black, and Champagne Gold and we have Aqua Blue for unboxing.

First impression with Camon i2X

When it comes to design, the Camon i2X stands a class apart from its predecessor as it features a notched screen and a much better design. Although the phone comes in a plastic casing, the rear side has a glossy mirror-like finish which has a wave life effect when exposed to light on a certain angle.

There is also the camera module on the rear side and a circular fingerprint sensor. The volume rockers and power button find their place on the right edge of the phone and down below there is a micro USB port and a 3.5mm headphone jack. There is also the SIM card tray on the left side which comes with a dedicated microSD card slot which can be used to expand storage.

Price & availability of the Camon i2X

CAMON i2X comes with the price tag of Rs 12,499. The device comes with Tecno 111 promise under which users will get 1-time screen replacement in one year, 100 days’ free replacement, and 1-month extended warranty.
